Charles Dumont, a celebrated French composer, died at 95 in Paris. He was renowned for his work with Edith Piaf, particularly the emblematic song "Non, Je ne Regrette Rien," which revived her career in 1960. 

Initially aiming to be a jazz trumpeter, health issues redirected Dumont toward organ and composition. He crafted numerous songs for Piaf, solidifying his mark on French music. 

In a separate note, a postcard from Titanic passenger Richard William Smith sold for over $25,000 at auction. Sent three days before the sinking, it highlights continued intrigue in Titanic artifacts, spurred by cultural portrayals and the ship's tragic narrative. Other memorabilia also fetched high prices, underscoring society's enduring fascination with the maritime disaster.
