The National Trust intends to transform 250,000 hectares into wildlife-friendly landscapes over the next decade, a decision met with backlash from tenant farmers worried about losing their livelihoods. 

This initiative aims to tackle the climate and nature crises, yet it raises significant concerns about food production and agricultural output. 

The Trust asserts that "progressive" farming methods can work alongside conservation efforts. However, many farmers believe that the "far right" wing of the rewilding plans poses a serious threat to their ability to produce food. 

These strategies are in line with post-Brexit policies encouraging landowners to embrace rewilding and tree planting.
