Townhall: Congress' Perverse Incentive Structure
House Republicans, led by Rep. Matt Gaetz, moved to oust Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy due to his lack of zeal in cutting spending. McCarthy had attempted to pass spending bills and a continuing resolution to fund the government, but they were either rejected or not sufficient for Gaetz and his colleagues. Gaetz accused the entire Republican caucus of cowardice in confronting President Biden's spending agenda. However, the Republican Party currently has little institutional power and is easily influenced by rogue actors. The only way to restore order in the House is to enforce consequences for violating party solidarity.
Townhall: A Culture of Death, a Culture of Life
A culture of death is spreading as some states expand assisted suicide and abortion laws. Texas, however, is taking a stand for life. In Canada, euthanasia is expanding to include those who can't afford housing. Meanwhile, states like California are promoting abortion without limits and sterilizing children. Texas, on the other hand, is passing legislation to protect children, ban abortions, and prioritize medical care and education. While Austin follows a path of death, Texas is proving that compassion and safety can coexist.
