They found a chest of coins from the old fleet off Florida. There were 1,051 silver reales and five gold escudos. It was worth more than £800,000. Under salvage rules, divers keep 80 percent, Florida 20 percent. Some coins go to museums.

In Dubai, Marcus Fakana, nineteen, was jailed for a consensual relationship with a 17-year-old. He served a year and six months in Al-Awir, then was pardoned. Three months after release, he died in a Tottenham car crash. Campaigners call the case a warning; the pardon is cited.

In Paris, Mokonuts marks ten years this December. They publish a cookbook with Phaidon in English and French. Founders Moko Hirayama and Omar Koreitem, who met in New York in 2000, call the book dish snapshots, not fixed recipes.
