In the aftermath of the Hamas attacks, Western leaders expressed strong support for Israel. However, the Norwegian political, cultural, academic, and media elite maintained their biased stance against Israel. The Norwegian Prime Minister initially refused to acknowledge Hamas as a terrorist group, and even after finally doing so, he continued to differentiate between Hamas and the people of Gaza, and pledged to send increased aid to Gaza. This anti-Israel sentiment is not new in Norway, as the country's elites have long displayed a morally superior attitude towards the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, often ignoring or justifying Hamas' acts of terror. The Norwegian media also played a significant role in spreading anti-Israel propaganda. Despite the hope for change in the future, the damage done by the Norwegian elite's callousness and cruelty may be irreparable.

One of the terrorists they want freed is the half brother of a Hamas leader, who is currently serving a 20-year sentence. There are concerns that trading for hostages will create a market and encourage more attacks by Islamic terrorists.

Liberals prioritize political ambition over the significance of the individual.
