That is not how lawyering works, Dana. That’s what Trump attorney Joseph Tacopina should have said to Dim Dana Bash on Sunday. Not that it would make any difference, because she wasn’t interviewing him or trying to get an answer. She was trying to interfere with the case and cause a problem in order to hurt Trump.
That’s what CNN’s mission has been for most of the last decade, and still is: Get Trump.
Trump said on Truth Social that the judge for his case is biased.
Dana Bash whined that Trump was “lashing out” and then asked one fairly normal question: “Are you going to ask for a different judge?”
“We are going to take the indictment, evaluate all our legal options, and pursue every one most vigorously. This is a case of political persecution,” Tacopina answered. “Had he not been running for presidency he would not have been indicted. Had he been John Smith there’s no scenario where he’d have been indicted.”
Bash then got snippy, saying, “well let’s talk about the judge. My question is about the judge. Will you ask for a different judge?”
“Well I just said, we have to get the indictment, and then we’ll evaluate every single legal maneuver,” he answered. “You know, I have no issue with this judge whatsoever. He has a very good reputation…”
Bash interrupted and said, “well your client does, he says that he’s–”
“Well my client has a right ot have an issue with everything, he’s been politically persecuted, make no mistake about it, Dana,” Tacopina answered. “Whether you sit on the right or the left, whether you’re a supporter or detractor of Donald Trump, this should really bother you. This should really shake the core of what we believe our justice system should be about. It should not be weaponized to go after political opponents. That’s what’s happening here, so he is lashing out because he’s the victim.”
I mean seriously this ain’t rocket science Dana.
“So you don’t believe this judge is biased?” asked the genius.
“I have no reason to believe this judge is biased, I have not been before him on this matter. So we have to let this process play out,” Tacopina said, stating the obvious one more time.
Then Bash ghoulishly grinned like she won. BECAUSE SHE LITERALLY DOES NOT UNDERSTAND.
This is important for us all to get. It’s not just malice, it’s that the malice has festered so long they are now incapable of being rational. The lawyer has no reason, until they go before the judge, to assume as a legal matter the judge will act with bias in the conduct of this case.
That has NOTHING to do with whether private citizen Donald Trump, the victim of malicious prosecution, BELIEVES this is a judge who WILL be biased.
It’s not remotely complicated or in any way difficult to understand or reconcile. These facts are not contradictory or at odds. It’s perfectly logical and consistent and reasonable and moreover it’s the obvious position for BOTH parties to take. It’s how any normal reasonable person in either of their shoes would respond.
But Bash thinks she just got a DUNK and the MSM ghouls are all high-fiving her!
