SpaceX is launching their Starship vehicle around 6PM eastern from Texas today and they will recapture the entire Starship vehicle when it lands, assuming it doesn’t explode in space like before.
Here’s what Fox 10 writes about the launch:
SpaceX will launch the 8th test flight of the Starship launch vehicle rocket into space and low earth orbit, before being recaptured at the base.
Barely a month after flaming rocket debris rained down on the Turks and Caicos islands, SpaceX conducts another test flight of its mammoth Starship, this time hoping to release mock satellites into space.
Additional info: Starship flight test 8 will be the eighth flight test of a SpaceX Starship launch vehicle. Ship 34 and Booster 15 are expected to fly on this test flight. It is expected to be the second flight of a Block 2 ship. SpaceX is expected to perform the flight test no earlier than Monday, March 3, 2025. The mission profile for flight test 8 is similar to the previous launch’s plan, targeting a splashdown in the Indian Ocean and a catch of the booster. The Ship will deploy four intentionally destructible Starlink “simulators” which are also expected to reenter over the Indian Ocean
