Joe Biden held a presser to announce the prisoner swap, which includes more than was reported earlier today. Biden said “three Americans and one green card holder are coming home: Paul Whelan, Evan Gershkovich, Alsu Kurmasheva, and Vladimir Kara-Murza.”
Biden added that “all told, we’ve negotiated the release of 16 people from Russia — including five Germans and seven Russian citizens who were political prisoners in their own country. Some of these women and men have been unjustly held for years. All have endured unimaginable suffering and uncertainty. Today, their agony is over.”
Biden was asked by a reporter what he has to say about Trump arguing that he could have gotten the prisoners out with no concessions. That’s when he dropped this absurd statement: “Why didn’t he do it when he was president?”
Well that’s pretty impossible. As the RNC rightly points out, three of the four weren’t even imprisoned by Russia until Biden became President. Only Whelan was captured during Trump’s presidency.
Biden’s dementia gets the best of him once again.
