The owners of US Steel is selling its company to a Japanese firm called Nippon Steel for just over 14 billion dollars. But this isn’t going over well for US Senators like John Fetterman, who says he will do everything he can to block the sale.

“The acquisition of @U_S_Steel by a foreign company is wrong for workers and wrong for Pennsylvania. I’m gonna do everything I can to block it.”

 
Fetterman isn’t the only Senator outraged over the issue. A couple hours ago JD Vance put out this statement saying:

“A critical piece of America’s defense industrial base was auctioned off to foreigners for cash. I warned of this outcome months ago..rest assured that I will interrogate the long-term implications for the American people.”

Many on X agree with both Fetterman and Vance, calling this part of our national security. I don’t know if Senators can actually do anything about this but I guess we’ll find out.
