It’s being reported that there’s an active shooter in Fort Stewart, Georgia and that there are casualties.

It’s still early but here’s what we know:

ABC NEWS – An active shooter incident with casualties has been reported at Fort Stewart in Georgia, Fort Stewart Hunter Army Airfield said.

The incident took place in the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team area.

Fort Stewart has initiated a lockdown. Law enforcement is on the scene and the situation is ongoing, officials said.

Fort Stewart is about 40 miles southwest of Savannah.

 
UPDATE 1:

According to WTOC, “Law enforcement has confirmed there is an active shooter on the scene. Four people have been taken to the hospital and one suspect has been identified by law enforcement.”

 
UPDATE 2: From WTOC, with an update from Fort Stewart directly saying five soldiers shot

Five soldiers were shot today in an active shooter incident in the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team area. All Soldiers were treated on-site and moved to Winn Army Community Hospital for further treatment. There is no active threat to the community.

Law enforcement was dispatched for a possible shooting in the 2nd ABCT complex at 10:56 a.m. The shooter was apprehended at 11:35 a.m.

The installation was locked down at 11:04 a.m. and Fort Stewart lifted the lockdown of the main cantonment area at 12:10 p.m.

The 2nd ABCT complex is still locked down.

Emergency medical personnel were dispatched to treat the wounded Soldiers at 11:09 a.m.

The incident remains under investigation and no additional information will be released until the investigation is complete.
