The president who brought us the end of Roe v Wade is seemingly criticizing Governor DeSantis for his recent 6-week abortion ban.
Trump was asked in this in his interview with The Messenger:
The Messenger: DeSantis signed a six-week abortion restriction in Florida. Do you think he was right to do that?
Trump: “Well, he has to do what he has to do. If you look at what DeSantis did, a lot of people don’t even know if he knew what he was doing. But he signed six weeks, and many people within the pro-life movement feel that that was too harsh.”
The Messenger: What do you think? Is it too harsh for you?
Trump: “I’m looking at all alternatives. I’m looking at many alternatives. But I was able to get us to the table by terminating Roe v. Wade. That’s the most important thing that’s ever happened for the pro-life movement.”
The Messenger: Would you sign a six week abortion ban or not?
Trump: “I’m looking at all [options].”
I’m forever grateful for what Trump did to help get rid of Roe v Wade with his Supreme Court picks. That was a big deal and can’t be understated.
But at the same time this is concerning. A six-week ban on abortion is a near total ban on abortions and that’s EXACTLY what the pro-life movement wants, which is the end of legal baby murder. I don’t know what he’s talking about in saying that “many people within the pro-life movement feel that that was too harsh.” If anything, the bill isn’t harsh enough in my opinion because it does make exceptions for rape and incest under certain conditions.
But regardless, the new pro-life law in Florida is fantastic and will mean that children who would have been murdered in the womb will now get a chance at life, the same chance we all want and deserve. I would think that a pro-life president would support this???
