Governor Ron DeSantis torched Donald Trump today for refusing to support the Republican nominee over Joe Biden.
I looked for this on video but could not find it. But Fox News has it for us:
“I mean you can’t, on the one hand, say that the country’s going in such a bad direction, which we all believe, and then, on the other hand, say you’re just going to take your ball and go home,” DeSantis said.
“Really? So, you know, I’m happy to do that. I’ve voted Republican my whole life,” the Florida governor said. “And, you know, even though, you know, I’m confident we’ll be the nominee, at the end of the day, you know, you respect the judgment of how this works out, and you don’t take your ball and go home.”
“It’s not just about you. It’s about a larger mission that we have to accomplish for Americans,” he added.
Fox News Digital reached out to the Trump campaign for comment, but did not immediately receive a response.
He’s as right as rain. As I said the other night, Trump doesn’t deserve to be on that debate stage if he’s unwilling to sign the pledge. It’s about the country, not him.
As far as Trump refusing to sign the pledge, I think it’s really as simple as this. Trump has vehemently opposed Governor DeSantis all year, writing and saying nasty things about him. If he signed the pledge to support the eventual nominee, that would mean Trump may have to support DeSantis if he won. Which means the governor isn’t nearly as bad as Trump has tried to make him out to be. That’s why he doesn’t want to sign it.
