Overnight President Trump announced that the ceasefire went into effect, but not before Iran killed four more people with their ballistic missile hitting a 7-story building in Be’er Sheva.
Iran had fired three separate barrages of missiles at Israel up to and just beyond the time when the ceasefire was going into effect, according to Arutz Sheva.
Israel wanted to respond, but his morning President Trump told them:
ISRAEL. DO NOT DROP THOSE BOMBS. IF YOU DO IT IS A MAJOR VIOLATION. BRING YOUR PILOTS HOME, NOW! DONALD J. TRUMP, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES
He followed that up with:
ISRAEL is not going to attack Iran. All planes will turn around and head home, while doing a friendly “Plane Wave” to Iran. Nobody will be hurt, the Ceasefire is in effect! Thank you for your attention to this matter! DONALD J. TRUMP, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES
Prime Minister Netanyahu affirmed that he spoke with Trump and held off on tougher strikes:
Netanyahu’s office says Israel struck an Iranian radar in response to the Iranian missile attack early Tuesday. But it says the Israeli leader held off tougher action after an appeal from President Donald Trump.
“Following President Trump’s conversation with Prime Minister Netanyahu, Israel refrained from additional attacks,” Netanyahu’s office says.
So for now, there is peace in the region and the ceasefire is holding. But it came with a great cost in Israel, with 28 dead:
AP – As a cease-fire between Iran and Israel took effect Tuesday, Israel’s emergency services released final figures from 12 days of fighting.
According to the data, 1,347 people in Israel were affected, including 28 killed, 17 seriously wounded, 29 moderately wounded, 872 lightly wounded and 401 treated for anxiety.
Just imagine how much worse it would have been if Israel hadn’t had the Iron Dome.
