President Trump had an interesting exchange with Los Angeles Mayor Bass during his roundtable event over the devastation that happened from wildfires.
The issue came up of victims wanting to clean their own lots and begin rebuilding their homes, and Mayor Bass said people would be able to do that. But she added that she hoped people could return to their lots in about a week.
Trump immediately interjected, saying a week was too long. Bass insisted that they wanted people to be safe, but Trump suggested they are safe and they need to be able to begin the rebuilding process immediately:
“You know what? They’re not safe now. A week is a long time. I see hundreds of people not allowed to go on their lots. It won’t burn anymore… it’s done. They want to clean up. They are just standing there, saying they need a permit. Everyone says 18 months.”
It was an awesome display of President Trump advocating on behalf of the victims and against the bureaucracy.
