Militant Muslims in Gaza fired hundreds of rockets into Israel today after the IDF took out three senior members of the Islamic Jihad.
The Iron Dome defense system took out most of the rockets and thus no casualties have been reported.
As a result of this rocket fire, Netanyahu says he’s ready to expand his campaign against the Islamic Jihad and issue ‘severe blows’ against the terrorist group:
JPOST – Israel is ready to expand Operation Shield and Arrow to strike Gaza even harder, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Wednesday.
Netanyahu made the remarks in a phone call with mayors of towns in Israel’s south, as terrorists shot hundreds of rockets from Gaza to Israeli civilian centers, mostly in the South.
“We’re prepared for the possibility of broadening the campaign and for very severe blows, now and later as well,” the prime minister said.
“I think we will have the upper hand but we are in this battle and I appreciate your support and your standing strong,” he added.
As of Wednesday afternoon, defense sources’ assessment was that the rockets came from Palestinian Islamic Jihad, such that Israel has not expanded its pool of targets to include Hamas.
They should absolutely expand their pool of targets to include Hamas and this is why:
Sources in the Gaza Strip said the rocket attacks were carried out in coordination between Hamas and PIJ.
According to the sources, Hamas did not want to claim responsibility alone for the attacks, but preferred to do so through the group representing several factions. “Hamas wants to make it appear as if the decision to fire the rockets was taken by a number of factions, and not one group,” the sources said. “But it’s worth noting that the attacks could not have taken place without a green light from the Hamas leadership.”
Hamas spokesperson Abdel Latif Qanou said the “unified strikes” against Israel were part of the response to the “massacre” perpetrated by the “Zionist occupation.” The rocket attacks, he added, also came in the framework of “defending” the Palestinian people.
I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again. The only way for Israel to stop Hamas and Islamic Jihad from trying to murder their citizens with these rockets is for the IDF to march into Gaza and reoccupy it. They must take it back from these Muslim terrorists for the safety and security of Israel. Until they do that, all of this will continue every few years as we’ve see now so many times.
I know this may spark more terrorist attacks from Terrorist Muslims in the West Bank and of course the world will condemn Israel for reoccupying Gaza. But I see no other way to deal a final blow to this threat.
