This is absolutely monumental. All living hostages have now been released by Hamas and have been returned to Israel. The bodies of the dead hostages are still in captivity, but will be released by Hamas as part of the deal.

All of the 20 remaining living hostages in Gaza have been freed from Hamas captivity and returned to Israel after two years of war. The bodies of 28 deceased hostages remain in Gaza but are meant to be returned by Hamas under the terms of the US-brokered ceasefire deal.

• As part of the agreement, the release of 250 Palestinian prisoners serving long and life sentences is now underway, as is the release of more than 1,700 Palestinian detainees from Gaza held by Israel without charge since the Hamas-led attacks on October 7, 2023.

• US President Donald Trump called the Middle East “a region transformed” as he hailed the release of the hostages during remarks before Israel’s parliament. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described him in his own speech as the “greatest friend” Israel has ever had.

• Trump will head to Egypt later, where leaders from more than 20 countries will join a summit on Gaza’s future.

Trump has just completed an hourlong speech in front of the Knesset where he was applauded and cheered by everyone there:

As far as the violent Palestinian prisoners being released..

154 Palestinian prisoners who had been serving long sentences in Israeli jails have been deported to Egypt, according to the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society.

Israeli authorities had demanded that prisoners convicted of violent offenses be deported to third countries rather than be allowed to return to the West Bank or Gaza.
