Middle school students organized a counter protest of a scheduled Pride Month spirit day at their school in Burlington, Massachusetts, tearing down Pride decorations and wearing red, white and blue instead of pride flag colors.
Students also chanted ‘USA are my pronouns’ in obvious defiance of the pride day spirit.

Upset parents want answers and action after Pride decorations and displays were destroyed at a Massachusetts middle school.
Students at Marshall Simonds Middle School were asked to wear rainbow clothes to mark a Pride Month spirit day, but some organized a protest wearing either red, white and blue or black.
In a letter to families, Principal Cari Perchase said that Pride posters were torn down, stickers were ripped up and some students chanted, “USA are my pronouns.”
“It was an unruly disruption that was organized ahead of time,” said Joanne Frustaci, a member of the Burlington community.
While some parents were upset, others say it was blown out of proportion.
“Some of the kids threw the stickers on the ground. But I can only speak for my daughter, she just didn’t want to wear that to school. It’s not that she wanted to hurt anybody’s feelings,” said parent Christine Steiner.
The incident sparked discussion on both sides of the issue.
Some parent and community groups are now calling for the town and school board to take action in support of diversity, equity and inclusion efforts.
“The issue of Pride at schools is very controversial, I understand that. I think we need to start at a place of commonality,” said parent Carl Foss.
I love the fact that these kids are getting fed up with having pride month shoved down their throats. But what I like even more is that they turned it into more of patriotic day by wearing the colors of the American flag.
I hope protests like this happen more and more around the country.
