Michigan’s Attorney General Dana Nessel told MSNBC today that election results won’t come in immediately after the election is over and blames some communities for refusing to allow for ‘processing’ of absentee and early ballots ahead of election day to expedite vote counting:
What Nessel said:
“What we’ve done since [2020] is we are allowing for early processing of the ballots. That means that – it’s not that the votes will be counted, it’s that the ballots will be processed several days early before the election. Which should allow for election results to come back a little sooner. But I think it’s important to note that not all communities have decided to pre-process. In fact the city of Warren, which is the third largest city in the state of Michigan, has elected not to pre-process. So results are not going to come in immediately after the election but they should come in much quicker than before.”
Michigan was a dumpster fire on election night last year and it sounds like it’s going to be one again. And I think that’s how they want it, otherwise they’d do more to push big cities like Warren to allow for advanced processing of the ballots to get them ready to be counted on election day.
