One of the now five Republican Senators said to be against Tulsi Gabbard’s nomination for DNI may be warming up to a potential ‘yes’ vote.
According to CNN’s Manu Raju, Susan Collins has not made up her mind but sounded positive after her exchange with Gabbard today:
Susan Collins, key swing vote, sounding positive about her exchange with Tulsi Gabbard.
“I was happy with her responses to my questions, including the question of whether she would recommend a pardon of Edward Snowden, where she clearly said no,” Collins told reporters, per @tedbarrettcnn
Collins is still undecided and hasn’t reviewed the full hearing yet. She missed part of the hearing because she’s also on HELP, which heard testimony from RFK Jr.
I asked Collins after her closed hearing with Gabbard if the jury was still out on her vote, and she said: “That’s correct. I want to make a careful decision.”
If Collins came over to support Gabbard that would be huge. It would mean, assuming this list is accurate, that only one more Republican would need to come onboard and VP Vance could break the tie and get her confirmed.
