On the topic of Biden running for reelection, I think it’s also appropriate to point out that when it comes to head to head matchups, we consistently see DeSantis beating Biden more often than Trump beating Biden:

Both Trump and DeSantis have the advantage over Biden when it comes to the RCP averages of polls, but DeSantis beats Biden by nearly a point more than Trump.

The point is that the Democrat establishment knows this and is hoping that Trump wins the Republican nomination because he doesn’t fare as well against Biden. They believe Biden can beat Trump again. They don’t want DeSantis to win because believe Biden won’t be able to beat him.

How all of this washes out remains to be seen, but the polling is clear that DeSantis is the better candidate to go against Biden.
