NextImg:I watched Superman – The Right Scoop

I’ve now watched the new Superman movie, written and directed by James Gunn, and I wanted to chime in with a brief, spoiler-free, review of it as many are doing.

I know some people have suggested the movie is ‘good, but not great,’ and there are those who have even called it ‘meh’. But I’m here to tell you that it really is a good movie. I enjoyed it from beginning to end, but my enjoyment of the movie definitely increased as it progressed, which in my mind is a sign of a great movie.

I love what they did with Lex Luthor and just how genius-level he really was in going after Superman. I felt like this version of Superman was as real as it gets, and I love how the movie showed his human side as he had to overcome obstacles and situations. I loved how they integrated Krypto, the superdog, in the movie. And contrary to one person claiming the movie was just about the dog, it was not. Krypto plays a big part, but it wasn’t all about the dog. I also love the ‘tech’ side of the movie, how they showed the Fortress of Solitude and Lex Luthor’s evil lair.

But more importantly, I felt that the writing was on point. Unlike the 2006 Superman movie, which I’ve nicknamed Superstalker (you’ll know why if you’ve watched it), this was not anti-climactic at all. I felt like the payoff was absolutely worth it.

Now just for some context, I loved Man of Steel. Some people didn’t, but I thought it was a great movie. Just like that movie, I would definitely watch this new Superman again, and I intend to do so. Multiple times.

So don’t listen to the bozos who tell you this latest Superman movie wasn’t good, or that it’s only barely good, or whatever. Take my word for it. It’s worth watching.
