Last night Governor DeSantis wrote on X that former President Trump has not lost his voting rights in Florida because they haven’t been stripped in New York City yet.

But he made clear that even if that happens, Trump would be a great candidate for the restoration of his voting rights via the Florida Clemency Board, which he chairs:

Former President Donald Trump hasn’t lost his voting rights in Florida. Rights are not removed in Florida where they haven’t yet been stripped in the convicting jurisdiction.

That said, given the absurd nature of the New York prosecution of Trump, this would be an easy case to qualify for restoration of rights per the Florida Clemency Board, which I chair.

The bottom line is that Donald Trump’s vote this November will be one of millions that demonstrate Florida is now a solid Republican state!

BOOM! I’m glad DeSantis is the governor of Florida because who else would have said this on Trump’s behalf? There are a few Republican governors with courage like this, but not that many.
