Governor Gavin Newsome made a ridiculous comparison on X, comparing San Francisco’s murder rate to that of Houston and making a derogatory comment about Fox News not covering it.
Here’s what he wrote:
Three things. First, Houston has a population of 2.9 million, whereas San Francisco has a population of only 842,000. So when you adjust for population size, the disparity isn’t nearly as stark, which is 4.2 for San Francisco vs. 13.5 for Houston per 100,000.
Secondly, Houston is a Democrat city. It has a Democrat Mayor, John Whitmire, and the city council is overwhelmingly Democrat (10-6). So why exactly did he put Greg Abbott’s face on his comparison?
Lastly, is Newsom taking credit for the lower murder rate in San Francisco? Because I don’t think he’s responsible. But if he could prevent crimes like murder, then I’d think he could easily solve his homeless crisis which is plaguing the state. And what about the murder rates of other Democrat cities like Stockton and Los Angeles? He probably doesn’t want to talk about them…
