Former NCAA swimmer and Lia Thomas teammate Paula Scanlan told Stuart Varney today that UPenn silenced her and her teammates from commenting on how unfair it was to have a man on the female swim team.
Watch:
Scanlan said the girls on the team were never even asked about how they’d feel about having a biological male being their teammate. It was only halfway through the season when there was a media storm over the fact that Thomas was breaking female records that UPenn came and addressed it. And by addressing it, she means they told them to shut up about it and offered them counseling if they didn’t like Thomas being on the team. Nothing really changed.
When Scanlan was asked what has been done since to fix this problem, she pointed out that the NCAA has still done nothing to keep men like Thomas from competing in women’s sports.
