Alabama’s Secretary of State, Wes Allen, order the voter rolls to be purged of any non-citizen who is registered to vote and when they did, they found thousands.
According to WAFF, the state found 3,251 non-citizens registered to vote:
Allen said they easily found the non-citizens registered to vote because they have ‘alien registration numbers’. It doesn’t mean they were all illegal immigrants, but it wouldn’t shock me if many of them were.
Good for Allen to do this.
In a related case, Arizona has a law requiring proof of citizenship to vote in presidential elections. A district court blocked the law, but the state Republican Party is appealing to the Supreme Court for an emergency stay citing that the Constitution gives states the power to set voter qualifications.
