Nancy Pelosi’s replacement, Hakeem Jeffries, took to Twitter yesterday to claim that ‘Inflation is down’ and that Biden is ‘lowering costs for everyday Americans’.
What he said: “Inflation is down for the 12th consecutive month. And is at the lowest level in two years. We promised to lower costs for everyday Americans. President Biden is delivering.”
But Community Notes decided to put an explainer on the tweet letting people know that a falling inflation rate doesn’t mean what Jeffries claims it means.
What they wrote: “Lower costs requires negative inflation. A falling rate of inflation means that prices are increasing less than before. The latest government report shows an annual inflation of 3%, which means prices are 3% higher than 12 months prior.”
Community Notes is a wonderful thing, explaining how inflation works to Democrats. Ha!
