The White House has just released a ‘victory’ statement following the decision by a judge this afternoon to not reinstate the AP’s access to both the Oval Office and Air Force One. This statement was released in two different ways.
First, a reporter for DC Examiner noticed some new signage up in the White House Briefing room:
Then this same reporter then posted a statement from the White House:
And a statement from WH press shop
“As we have said from the beginning, asking the President of the United States questions in the Oval Office and aboard Air Force One is a privilege granted to journalists, not a legal right. We stand by our decision to hold the Fake News accountable for their lies, and President Trump will continue to grant an unprecedented level of access to the press. This is the most transparent Administration in history.”
The judge did call it content discrimination in his ruling today and warned the White House to reconsider. We’ll see if this argument of ‘privilege’ outweighs the ‘discrimination’ in his courtroom.
