Secretary of State Marco Rubio went after NBC Meet the Press host Kristen Welker for a fake news headline that suggests young children were deported with their mothers, when that’s not what happened at all.

Rubio says that the mothers were deported, not their children, who he says can return to the US if they are US citizens and their father or some other adult wants to assume responsibility.

He’s absolutely right about the headlines if they hadn’t sent the children with their deported mothers. They would all read that Trump separated families.

In the end, sending the children with their deported mothers is the right thing to do and these fake news headlines aren’t going to fool anyone.
