NBC News correspondent Julie Tsirkin reported tonight that in President-elect Trump’s interview with Kristen Welker, he told her that Senate Republicans have not assured him they can get Pete Hegseth confirmed for Secretary of Defense. 

But he isn’t giving up on Pete. Rather, on the contrary, he praised Hegseth to Welker for his nomination.
