President Trump was just asked by a reporter if he’s withholding money to Los Angeles because of its sanctuary city policies.

He replied “I want to see two things in Los Angeles – Voter ID, so that the people have a chance to vote. And I want to see the water be released and come down into Los Angeles and throughout the state. Those are the two things. After that, I will be the greatest president that California has ever seen.”

Trump adds again, “Voter ID for the people of California, the water to be released, and they’ll get a lot of help from the U.S.”

I’m sure President Trump will get asked about this again in Los Angeles. Honestly, my thought right now is that he’s not talking about disaster aid for the victims of the wildfires, but about regular federal aid. But I could be wrong.

Even so, he wants Voter ID there so he’s putting it out there, likely knowing full well that they won’t do it. But he’s going to do his damnedest to convince them to do it. I really don’t think he’s making that a condition of disaster aid though.
