Secretary of War Pete Hegseth just revealed that he’s returning the combat roles to male-only standards because, as he put it, these roles are ‘life or death’.

And not just male-only roles, but the ‘highest male standards only’.

Hegseth says later that this isn’t designed to push women out, because if they can meet the standard they are more than welcome. But he’s clear that this will be a high standard of excellence, and men who can’t meet the standard won’t be in combat either.
