Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu revealed today his plans for Gaza in an interview with Fox News host Bill Hemmer.
In short, Netanyahu said Israel intends to take over Gaza and then hand it over to responsible Arab armed forces to run the country:
Honestly, I’m not very fond of this idea. While it certainly is a large undertaking, Israel needs to at least maintain security control of Gaza to ensure that another group like Hamas doesn’t rise into existence from the Palestinian people, some of whom are most certainly supporters of Hamas. I’m just not convinced an Arab army would prevent something like this from happening again.
But that being said, Egypt does hate the Muslim Brotherhood and it’s possible that this could work. But to me it’s a dangerous gamble, especially given what Israelis have been through since Gaza was taken over by Hamas.
