President Trump has just released his Fiscal Year 2026 Discretionary Budget request for the Big Beautiful Bill, and it’s already getting support from conservatives in Congress.
First, here’s a synopsis of the budget request:
The Budget reduces non-defense discretionary spending by $163 billion (23%), guts the weaponized deep state and provides historic increases for defense and border security. The Budget also provides support for air and rail safety, key infrastructure, and our Nation’s veterans and law enforcement.
This is the lowest non-defense spending level since 2017. Savings come from eliminating radical DEI and CRT programs, Green New Scam funding, eliminating Weaponization, and promoting federalism.
Defense spending would increase by 13%, and appropriations for DHS would increase by nearly 65%, ensuring that we have the resources to end the border invasion.
This will be made possible through the passage of President Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill, which will be enacted with a simple majority in the Congress and cannot be held hostage by Democrats for wasteful spending increases.
So who is supporting this out of the gate? Congressman Chip Roy, who has always opposed bills that didn’t offer real cuts in spending.
Here’s what he had to say:
“Today, the White House released a transformational budget that maintains strong funding for our national defense while reducing the woke, weaponized, and wasteful bureaucracy by 20% even farther back than pre-COVID levels. Combined with our joint efforts to rescind additional wasteful spending, and deliver a reconciliation bill that will extend and expand the Trump tax cuts while reforming Medicaid and other programs to reduce deficits, we are poised to deliver prosperity, freedom, and strength to the American people.
I strongly commend President Trump, OMB Director Russ Vought, and the entire White House team for releasing a truly transformational budget that maintains strong funding for our national defense while reducing by 20% the woke, weaponized, and wasteful bureaucracy by 20% to better than pre-COVID levels. This budget re-aligns federal spending to the priorities of the people: a secure nation, making America healthy again, a Justice Department combatting crime and not weaponized against the people, and common sense. Combined with our joint efforts to rescind other wasteful spending, and deliver a reconciliation bill that will extend and expand the Trump tax cuts while reforming Medicaid and other programs to reduce deficits, we are poised to deliver prosperity, freedom, and strength to the American people.”
He adds this via several tweets:
“It also ENDS taxpayer handouts to electric vehicle (EV) and battery makers, and cancels $6 BILLION of GREEN NEW SCAM funds for wasteful and ineffective EV charger programs.”
Fantastic! If it has Chip Roy’s support, you know it’s gotta be pretty dang good.
