President Trump’s nominee for Labor Secretary, Lori Chavez-DeRemer, already has one Republican NO vote and it’s not who you might think it is. It’s neither the RINO from Alaska nor the lesser RINO from Maine.
It’s the Senator from Kentucky, Rand Paul:
Back when DeRemer was nominated, AG Hamilton said “She was one of only 3 house Republicans to support the PRO Act, which could have overturned right to work laws in a majority of states.”
Others call her a socialist Republican. In fact AFT President Randi Weingarten supported DeRemer for Labor Secretary and that says a lot about her.
The problem is that many Democrats will vote for her because she’s a big RINO, so even if many Republicans vote against her she could still get confirmed. The only way to kill her nomination is to not let it get out of committee. And Rand Paul is on that committee so his NO vote is significant. However there’s only one more Republican on the committee than Democrats, so even if only one Republican votes yes, if all Democrats do then she gets through to the Senate floor. Both Lisa Murkowski and Susan Collins are on that committee too.
