A state trooper in Kentucky was shot just before noon today, and churchgoers at a nearby Baptist church were injured after the gunman fled to their church.

It was about 16 miles from the shooting, but authorities found the gunman at the church and killed him.

There isn’t a lot known about the injuries in the church, but one can only suspect they are gunshot wounds.

Here’s more from the NY Post:

A Kentucky State Trooper was seriously injured at a Lexington airport Sunday before the armed attacker fled to a nearby church – with multiple others being hurt there, according to reports.

The gunfire broke out just before noon at the Blue Grass Airport, with the officer wounded and the suspect then fleeing to a church about 16 miles away, the Lexington Herald reported.

Police pursued the suspect and later confirmed there were injuries at the church and that the shooter had been killed there.

It remains unclear whether the suspect was gunned down by police or how the victims were injured at the church.

It also remains unclear why the violence first broke out at the airport or where at the facility it happened.

The officer injured at the airport is being treated at a nearby hospital.

“Kentucky, we are aware of a series of incidents in Lexington around one suspect, including a trooper-involved shooting and an additional shooting at Richmond Road Baptist Church with multiple injuries,” Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear wrote on X. “The trooper and others are being treated at a nearby hospital.

“Please pray for everyone affected by these senseless acts of violence, and let’s give thanks for the swift response by the Lexington Police Department and Kentucky State Police. Details are still emerging, and we will share more information as available,” Beshear said.
