NextImg:BREAKING: The Supreme Court strikes down an egregious DC Appeals Court decision – The Right Scoop

The Supreme Court struck down an egregious decision by the DC Appeals court in an environmental case this morning, and it did so unanimously.

It’s about new railroad construction in Utah for transporting crude oil, which has been hindered by lawsuits over its environmental impact. The DC Appeals court ruled, despite a federal agency approving the construction, that more environmental impacts had to be considered and blocked the federal approval.

The way the case is being reported is quite boring. But the Senior Editor over at Daily Signal has a much more interesting take on it.

Here’s what he wrote:

The Supreme Court strikes down an egregious DC Appeals Court decision in Seven County v. Eagle County

This case may seem boring, but I think it’s revealing. The Court was 8-0—Gorsuch recused.

A federal agency approved a railroad, but a court blocked it. Why? Because the 3,600 pages of environmental impact statement ostensibly wasn’t comprehensive enough.

Yes, green activist groups including Earthjustice and the Center for Biological Diversity joined a Colorado county in suing to block construction.

SCOTUS unanimously ruled against the green groups. Even the liberal justices ruled the railway was properly approved.
