Rep. Sheila Jackson-Lee from Houston, Texas has just died at the age of 74. The cause of death was not revealed, but she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer a month ago.
Here’s the news from The Hill:
Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas), who served in Congress for nearly three decades, has died at the age of 74, her office announced Friday evening.
“Today, with incredible grief for our loss yet deep gratitude for the life she shared with us, we announce the passing of United States Representative Sheila Jackson Lee of the 18th Congressional District of Texas,” her family wrote in a statement shared to her account on X.
The office did not specify a cause of death, but the news comes just over one month after the Congresswoman revealed that she had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
Of course we never agreed with Lee and found her to be – to put it nicely, less than honest many times.
But she’s gone now and we won’t speak ill of the dead. And I’d appreciate that those of you in the comments would do the same.
May she rest in peace.
