President Trump is not happy with how Senator Josh Hawley passed his formerly-know-as PELOSI Act, which prohibits lawmakers in Congress, the President and Vice President from stock trading out of committee.

Senator Rick Scott had “accused Hawley of reneging on a promise to work with him to improve the bill”, according to Politico, which was part of Trump’s complaint below.

Trump went on to call Hawley a “second-tier” senator and said his efforts just provide another way for Democrats to attack him.

Here’s what he wrote:

Why would one “Republican,” Senator Josh Hawley from the Great State of Missouri, join with all of the Democrats to block a Review, sponsored by Senator Rick Scott, and with the support of almost all other Republicans, of Nancy Pelosi’s Stock Trading over the last 25 years. The information was inappropriately released just minutes before the Vote — Very much like SABOTAGE! The Democrats, because of our tremendous ACHIEVEMENTS and SUCCESS, have been trying to “Target” me for a long period of time, and they’re using Josh Hawley, who I got elected TWICE, as a pawn to help them.

I wonder why Hawley would pass a Bill that Nancy Pelosi is in absolute love with — He is playing right into the dirty hands of the Democrats. It’s a great Bill for her, and her “husband,” but so bad for our Country! I don’t think real Republicans want to see their President, who has had unprecedented success, TARGETED, because of the “whims” of a second-tier Senator named Josh Hawley!

I know the bill prohibits ‘future presidents and vice presidents’ from stock trading but despite that fact, Democrats will use the underlying premise to scrutinize everything Trump does related to his stock portfolio. And this is why I believe Trump is so upset by this.

You have to admit, every Republican in the committee voted against the bill, save Hawley, and every Democrat voted for it. I think Trump’s suggestion that they are using Hawley as a pawn is quite adept.
