President Trump has already announced this morning that he will declare a national emergency in the areas affected by this 25% Canadian tariff on electricity being sold to American households, which he says will allow the US to alleviate this threat.
But he’s continuing to go after Canada for “stooping so low” as to use electricity as a bargaining chip, saying they will pay a big financial price for this:
Why would our Country allow another Country to supply us with electricity, even for a small area? Who made these decisions, and why? And can you imagine Canada stooping so low as to use ELECTRICITY, that so affects the life of innocent people, as a bargaining chip and threat? They will pay a financial price for this so big that it will be read about in History Books for many years to come!
This is why I don’t think, with all the blustering from Doug Ford, that he will actually cut the electricity off to these homes. He promised to raise tariffs and he followed through on that, but he’ll never leave people without power. I just don’t see it happening. And Trump very much knows this, which is why he’s not backing down and now upping the pressure. Trump has the moral high ground on the electricity tariffs and he will win this fight.
