This morning the WSJ is reporting that President Trump “approved of attack plans for Iran, but was holding off to see if Tehran would abandon its nuclear program, people familiar with the deliberations said.”
They add:
“The U.S. has built up military forces in the region in recent days. A third U.S. Navy destroyer entered the eastern Mediterranean Sea and a second U.S. carrier strike group is heading toward the Arabian Sea. While the Pentagon said the buildup is defensive, it better positions the U.S. should Trump decide to join Israeli attacks on Iran. It could also be a tactic to pressure Iran to capitulate or make concessions.”
But President Trump wrote himself this morning, in a very short post on Truth Social: “The Wall Street Journal has No Idea what my thoughts are concerning Iran!”
It could be that the WSJ is wrong in their reporting, or that President Trump is trying to suggest misinformation to throw off the Iranians regarding his plans.
I would note that Trump didn’t get specific, and could have been referring to other reporting from them on his plans for Iran. This reporting, the meat of which actually came last night but was in a new morning article, was on their front page.
