One person is dead and five others are injured after a mass shooting at a Bronx subway station in New York City.

The shooter escaped on foot and has not been arrested yet. The shooting happened less than an hour ago.

An investigation is underway after one person died and five others were left wounded after a shooting at a subway station in the Bronx.

The shooting was reported at the Mount Eden train station on Monday afternoon.

Six people were shot on the platform while waiting for the southbound No. 4 train at around 4:30 p.m.

One of the victims died at St Barnabas Hospital, police said.

The injuries to the other five are not believed to be life threatening.

No arrests have been made, and a gun has yet to be recovered by authorities.

The MTA said northbound 4 trains are running on the express track from 149 St.-Grand Concourse to Burnside Ave and 4 trains are bypassing Mount Eden Ave in both directions.

The victims, who all appeared to be children or teens between the ages of 12 and 17, were hit by gunfire at the Mount Eden Avenue station, which serves the 4 train, at around 4:40 p.m., the sources said.

Sources said one girl was shot in the face and died after she was rushed to St. Barnabas Hospital. Another victim was shot in the leg.

Witnesses reported hearing more than 10 shots fired, according to the sources.

The unidentified shooter opened fire after a fight on a northbound 4 train that then spilled into the station, sources said. The suspect then ran out of the station.

It wasn’t immediately clear what sparked the argument.

The NYPD requested residents avoid the area around the station because of the active investigation.
