The Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson has refused RFK Jr.’s request to have his name removed from the ballot after he dropped out of the race and endorsed President Trump.

Per Axios today:

Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s name will still appear on the Michigan ballot despite suspending his campaign last week.

Why it matters: Kennedy said last week that he would withdraw his name from the ballot in the key swing states to avoid hurting former President Trump’s chances in November.

But in Michigan, one of the states that could decide the election, it’s too late for Kennedy to remove his name, per the secretary of state’s office.

“Minor party candidates cannot withdraw, so his name will remain on the ballot in the November election,” Cheri Hardmon, senior press secretary for Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson said in a statement to Axios.

Meanwhile, Benson’s effort to keep Cornel West off the Michigan ballot was denied by a judge this past weekend:

Independent presidential candidate Cornel West must appear on the ballot in the battleground state of Michigan, a judge ruled about a week after West was disqualified.

Court of Claims Judge James Robert Redford wrote in a decision released Saturday that West’s campaign submitted the proper number of signatures to qualify for the ballot and that presidential candidates are not required to file affidavits of identity. The ruling came after the Michigan Bureau of Elections informed West on Aug. 16 that he would not be certified because the affidavit of identity he submitted was not properly notarized.

Redford also rejected the state’s findings that West’s affidavit was incorrectly notarized.

In Michigan, the state Democratic Party, Democratic Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson and a voter backed by a Democratic-aligned political action committee had challenged West’s candidacy.

Benson’s office plans to appeal Redford’s decision, a spokesperson said.

This is not about it being ‘too late’ for RKF Jr. to remove his name from the ballot, it’s nothing but PARTISAN hackery on the part of Benson.

As Greg Price pointed out today, Benson is still fighting to remove Cornel West from the ballot to help Kamala, but won’t let RFK Jr. remove his own name from the ballot to keep from hurting Trump after dropping out of the race and endorsing Trump.

I hope RFK Jr. sues to have his name removed…
