The judge overseeing the government’s classified documents case against Donald Trump has set the date for jury trial.

The date falls in the second half of the Republican Primary next year:

With the Republican National Convention happening in mid-July of next year, we may very well know who the nominee is for the Republican Party by the trial date.

But if it’s a really competitive primary that goes down to the wire the trial could be a factor. And it may anyway considering the general election happens after mid-July and I’m sure there will be some asking whether we want a nominee that may be convicted of a federal crime.
