Iran has just announced that it is pulling out of negotiations for a nuclear deal with the US, cancelling a meeting that was set for Sunday.

Iran no longer plans to engage in nuclear talks with the U.S. that were scheduled to take place in Oman on Sunday, Iranian leaders announced Friday after Israel’s deadly airstrikes targeting the Tehran’s nuclear facilities and military sites.

Oman News Agency and Iranian state media reported that the talks have been suspended indefinitely.

“Israel’s unilateral attack on Iran is illegal, unjustifiable and a grave threat to regional stability,” Oman Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi posted on the social platform X after the attacks. “I condemn it and urge the global community to come together to reject Israeli aggression and support de-escalation and diplomacy with one voice.”

Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, meanwhile, vowed retribution against its long-standing adversary Israel.

“With this crime, the Zionist regime has set itself up for a bitter and painful fate, and it will receive it,” he said in remarks released through state media.

 
President Trump wrote about this today, saying that even though he gave Iran 60 days to make a deal, and this is day 61, he may give them a second chance:

Two months ago I gave Iran a 60 day ultimatum to “make a deal.” They should have done it! Today is day 61. I told them what to do, but they just couldn’t get there. Now they have, perhaps, a second chance!

He also wrote earlier:

I gave Iran chance after chance to make a deal. I told them, in the strongest of words, to “just do it,” but no matter how hard they tried, no matter how close they got, they just couldn’t get it done. I told them it would be much worse than anything they know, anticipated, or were told, that the United States makes the best and most lethal military equipment anywhere in the World, BY FAR, and that Israel has a lot of it, with much more to come – And they know how to use it. Certain Iranian hardliner’s spoke bravely, but they didn’t know what was about to happen. They are all DEAD now, and it will only get worse! There has already been great death and destruction, but there is still time to make this slaughter, with the next already planned attacks being even more brutal, come to an end. Iran must make a deal, before there is nothing left, and save what was once known as the Iranian Empire. No more death, no more destruction, JUST DO IT, BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE. God Bless You All!
