Republican House Speaker Johnson just killed the foreign aid-only bill that the Senate is trying to pass.

He just dropped this statement nixing the bill from any consideration in the House:

“Speaker Johnson says he won’t take up the Senate’s foreign aid only bill – just as the Senate is poised to pass it.

In the absence of having received any single border policy change from the Senate, the House will have to continue to work its own will on these important matters”

The Senate negotiated in secret on a foreign aid/border bill, without any input from the House, that was so bad it never even got out of the Senate. Even Mitch McConnell turned on the bill.

Now they want to pass the aid portion of the bill alone without any provisions to fix the border? Yeah, no. The House didn’t get any say in the first bill but they are getting their say now. That bill is DOA. Good on Johnson for killing it.
