Last we heard the House Ethics Committee voted not to release the report they did on Matt Gaetz and the sexual allegations against him, for which he was investigated and never charged. It was the right decision.

But now we are finding out they secretly voted this month and Republicans on the committee apparently cited Democrats and voted to release the report.

Here’s more from CNN:

The House Ethics Committee secretly voted earlier this month to release its report into the conduct of former Rep. Matt Gaetz before the end of this Congress, according to multiple sources with knowledge of the matter.

The report is now expected to be made public after the House’s final day of votes this year as lawmakers leave Washington for the holidays, those sources said.

The vote, which has not previously been reported, amounts to a stark reversal for the panel after it had voted along party lines in late November not to release the results of the investigation. The decision to release the report suggests that some Republicans ultimately decided to side with Democrats on the matter, and it is unclear if the committee will once again change course now that it has voted.

Whatever they learned in this report, it will ultimately be used to smear Gaetz’s name. He’s no longer a Congressman and he’s not up for any big jobs in the Trump administration at this point – so you might think it’s moot. But it’s really not and honestly, since he’s no longer in the House, they should just trash the report and be done with it. I don’t care how much work they think they did, it was only potentially important when he was in the House and even then it was very sketchy because, as we’ve pointed out, he was investigated and never charged.
