Governor DeSantis tonight announced an inquiry into Bud Light and InBev on behalf of the Florida Pension fund as a shareholder.

Here’s what he said:

DeSantis said: “We believe when you take your eye off the ball like that, you’re not following your fiduciary duty to the best you can for your shareholders. So we’re going to be launching an inquiry about Bud Light and InBev and it could be something that leads to a derivative lawsuit file on behalf of the shareholders, the Florida Pension Fund. Because at the end of the day there’s got to be penalties for when you put business aside to focus on your social agenda at the expensive of hardworking people.”

My first thought was hasn’t Bud Light had enough? But really, DeSantis does have a good point because companies have a huge responsibility to their shareholders and the Florida Pension fund was harmed. Do I think his inquiry will actually lead to a lawsuit? Probably not, given that Bud Light fired the chick responsible and will likely never make this mistake again.
