A Democratic congressman’s staffers were attacked by a Fairfax man who entered his office in the city and began violently beating his staff.

The constituent, who has been identified as Xuan-Kha Tran Pham and is pictured above, also did considerable damage to the office.

Two members of Rep. Gerry Connolly’s (D-Va.) staff were hospitalized on Monday morning after an assailant attacked them with a baseball bat, the Virginia congressman said in a statement.

Connolly said the attacker entered his Fairfax, Va., office and “asked for me before committing an act of violence against two members of my staff.”

The suspect was identified by Capitol Police as 49-year-old Xuan Kha Tran Pham, a Fairfax resident, who they said was not known to the department beforehand.

The suspect used a metal bat, according to the Capitol Police. He has been charged with one count of aggravated malicious wounding and another count of malicious wounding. Their investigation is ongoing.

“Both members of my team were transferred to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries,” Connolly said. “Right now, our focus is on ensuring they are receiving the care they need.”

I’m glad these are non-life threatening injuries. However being hit in the head with metal baseball bat must’ve left serious injuries.

According to Connolly, Pham was filled with out of control rage:

Must’ve been white supremacist rage. Yeah we’ll go with that.

An hour before this attack, Pham attacked a woman’s vehicle with the same metal baseball bat after asking if she was white:
