



An Oregon homeowner fatally shot an alleged home invader early Tuesday morning — and police said the shooter held a valid protection order against the suspect.
The Jackson County Sheriff's Office said the incident occurred around 2 a.m. in the area of Cleveland Street in Shady Cove.
Deputies responded to the call, and medics attempted life-saving measures on the suspect, who was pronounced dead at 2:34 a.m., officials said.
Detectives are investigating the homeowner's claim of self-defense during a home-invasion, officials said, adding that the homeowner held a valid protection order against the suspect.
There have been no arrests, officials said, adding that investigators are receiving cooperation.
Upon completion of the investigation, officials said detectives will forward the case to the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office for review. Officials added that due to the sensitive nature of the investigation, names will not be released at this time.
