New York City Democratic Mayor Eric Adams' campaign is currently under investigation after allegedly receiving illegal foreign donations, the New York Times reported Thursday.

On Thursday morning, the Federal Bureau of Investigation raided the Brooklyn home of Brianna Suggs, a top fundraiser for Adams.

The search warrant for Suggs' home, obtained by the Times, revealed that Adams' campaign is under investigation for receiving alleged foreign donations from the government of Turkey.

During the raid, the FBI searched for the campaign's financial records, travel records to and from Turkey, and records of interactions with representatives of the Turkish government, the outlet stated. Suggs' electronic devices were also seized.

Suggs receives a monthly retainer from the Adams campaign, and her company, Suggs Solutions LLC, has received more than $150,000 from the political campaign since 2021, the New York Post reported.

The Times reported that Adams' campaign allegedly received $14,000 in illegal donations from Brooklyn construction company KSK Construction Group. The campaign also allegedly received donations from Turkish-owned Bay Atlantic University in Washington, D.C. The FBI has reason to suspect the construction company and the university may have served as straw donors for the Turkish government. The agency is also investigating whether employees at those establishments and Turkish officials received kickbacks for the alleged illicit donations.

Seven individuals connected to Adams' campaign were indicted on multiple counts by Democratic District Attorney Alvin Bragg, according to the Times. The charges included conspiracy and bribe-taking and conspiracy to funnel illegal donations, the outlet said.

Suggs' home was searched soon after Adams announced that he was headed to Washington, D.C., to participate in meetings at the White House with other mayors to request federal funding to address the migrant crisis. After learning about the raid, Adams abruptly returned to New York City. His office noted that the meetings would be rescheduled.

On Thursday, Adams stated that he would "fully participate" with the investigation but noted that he had not been contacted by any law enforcement agency. He also added that he had not spoken to Suggs, though he referred to her as "a real professional."

"She does her job well and she's gonna comply with any inquiry that's made," Adams stated.

The mayor said he feels "extremely comfortable about how I comply with rules and procedures."

"I hold my campaign to the highest ethical standards," Adams continued. "I've stated this over and over again. I hold myself to a high standard, I hold my campaign to a high standard, and I hold my staffers at City Hall to a high standard."
